Scope of cover
A frontier insurance policy taken out in an EEA country applies in the whole of this territory (and Switzerland), including policies issued by the “frontier insurance” co-insurance grouping.
French insurance companies are however free to extend this cover to the other signatories of the multilateral agreement, i.e. Andorra, Bosnia, Montenegro, United Kingdom and Serbia.
For vehicles belonging to a foreign government, a frontier insurance policy may be replaced by a certificate stating that the vehicle belongs to the government concerned, designating the organisation responsible for making reparations on behalf of the government and specifying that the government guarantees the settlement of claims, waives its legal immunity and accepts the application of French law and the jurisdiction of the French courts.
