Becoming a member
How to join the BCF
Any undertaking wishing to apply to join the Bureau Central Français must have a licence to operate in class 10 (motor vehicle liability) and provide proof of:
- its class 10 licence.
- the name and address of the representative responsible for settling claims.
Undertakings operating under the Freedom of Services must provide:
- proof of a class 10 licence in the country where the undertaking is licensed.
- the name and address of the representative responsible for settling claims.
Consideration of membership applications
Membership applications are subject to the approval of the administrative board.
In the event of refusal the articles of association specify that “the application is submitted to a general assembly, which rules by a two-thirds majority of the members present and represented”.
Withdrawal from the BCF
Since all insurance undertakings licensed to operate in class 10 are obliged by Article L421- 15 of the Insurance Code to join the BCF, a member may withdraw from the Bureau solely if it loses its licence.
